Blackville Firemen Honoured at Appreciation Dinner
On Saturday, October 27, the village of Blackville hosted a Firemen Appreciation Night at the Father AA McKinnon Memorial Hall. More than sixty people were in attendance including 18 current firefighters and 8 retired firefighters.
Councillor Cindy Underhill was the master of ceremonies, along with special guests Southwest Miramichi Bay du Vin MLA Jake Stewart, Member of Parliament for Miramichi-Grand Lake Pat Finnigan, Mayor and Volunteer Firefighter Chris Hennessy, Councillor Cindy Ross, Acting Fire Marshall for the Province of New Brunswick Michael Lewis and President of the Miramichi Valley Firefighters Association and Rogersville Fire Chief Junior Pitre.
Four firemen were honoured for their years of service: Jonathan Brennan for 15 years of service, Bradley Brophy and Al Underhill for 20 years of service and Garth Underhill for 40 years of service. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the fire department.
Saint Raphael’s CWL prepared a hot turkey dinner and dessert.
