Memorial Tree Lighting Ceremony Held at Blackville Park

The first annual Memorial Tree Lighting Ceremony was held on Monday, December 3 at Blackville Park. About seventy-five people were in attendance.

The evening kicked off at 6:30pm. Attendees socialized and enjoyed hot chocolate and candy canes, a bonfire and Christmas carols. Blackville Foodland Manager Clem Savoie was the master of ceremonies for the event, hosted by the Blackville Mango Health & Wellness committee.

Mayor Christopher Hennessy welcomed the crowd and Reverend John Stewart said an opening prayer, followed by Committee Chair Wendy Vickers who recited a listing of names that bulbs were purchased in memory of.

The crowd then joined in the singing of “It’s Christmas” and “Silent Night”, followed by a moment of silence. The memorial tree, with its twelve hundred lights, was then lit while the singing of “O Christmas Tree” rang out.

The Blackville Mango Health & Wellness committee wishes to thank the following individuals, groups and businesses for their contributions towards this event:

So healing. Eel Ground needs to invest in one too.
