Blackville Foodland Window Display Pays Tribute to Community

Blackville Foodland managers Clem and Naomi Savoie have been busy transforming their storefront with a new window display that pays homage to the community.

The collage, titled “A Look Back in Time” and installed this week by River Signs, features six panels and is 17 feet wide and almost 7 feet tall.  It features a variety of photos important to Blackville’s past including:

  • the McCormack and McCarthy Store
  • the Whooper Train
  • the old train bridge that crossed the main river
  • scenes from Main Street
  • Lounsbury store
  • the mills

The idea of the display came when the Savoie’s wanted to rejuvenate the front of the building while creating a tribute to the community and its people. It was created by Les McLaughlin and designed to mimic a wall of framed photos. It also features a silhouette of a fisherman – a nod to the community’s long history of salmon fishing.
