Volunteers needed for a study on telework and digital work in rural communities

Carleton University is looking for volunteers for a study on telework (also referred to as remote work) and digital work being completed in rural and resource-dependent communities in Atlantic Canada. This project aims to understand how people in these communities are navigating these forms of work.

You will be asked to complete an online questionnaire and participate in one 75-minute interview, that will take place through Zoom. You may also be invited to participate in an optional follow-up 30-minute interview on specific topics.

The interviews will be recorded and then transcribed.

To be eligible, you must be:

  • 18 years and older
  • Reside in a rural or resource community in Atlantic Canada
  • Complete a portion of your work at-home or on a remote basis using one or more of the following:
    • Computers and emails
    • The Internet
    • Digital platforms
    • Virtual spaces
    • Websites
    • Online marketplaces
    • Mobile platforms
    • Web-based tools
    • Social media
    • Blogs

The study is being conducted via online and digital communication channels and should take approximately 2 to 3 hours over the duration of the study. Participants will receive a $20 Tim Horton’s gift card.
