Third Annual Remembering Amy Tribute Raises Funds for Memorial Fund

The third annual Remembering Amy musical tribute to Amy Jardine was held on Saturday, August 22 at Blackville Municipal Park. The event took place under the memorial pavilion named in his honour.

More than two dozen performers entertained the crowd during the three and a half hour event. A 50/50 draw was held with the winner donating half of her prize back to the memorial fund.

A barbecue was held offering hotdogs, hamburgers and curly fries, as well as cotton candy and soft drinks.

Throughout the day, $2802 was raised with all money going back to the community via Blackville School scholarships and donations to local benefits.

Helen Jardine, Amy’s wife, announced that from June 2019 to June 2020, $1500 had been donated to Blackville School graduates (3 scholarships of $500 each), and $800 donated to benefits ($50 for each of the 16 benefits held during that period).

This was the first major community event held in Blackville since the COVID-19 pandemic began in mid-March. Tables were spaced accordingly and many event-goers remained in their vehicles. Musical equipment was sanitized between performances and hand sanitizer and wipes were provided at the food table. Contact information was collected from those in attendance.
