Storm Update: November 4
Last evenings powerful wind storm has knocked out power over much of the province. Although power has been restored for some, it remains out for others in the village and surrounding areas. Blackville Mayor Christopher Hennessy has asked that people use caution when out.
“There are a lot of trees down that are overhanging and fallen on the village streets from the recent high winds. There are also some downed hydro wires as well that must be treated as if they are live. Please use caution when out and about. Clean up will begin tomorrow (Monday, November 5). Thank you.”
Blackville volunteer firefighter Matt Sturgeon asked that those without power contact any member of the department if they need to use their facility.
“Anyone without power, the fire hall is equipped with 2 showers, bathrooms and a full kitchen. If anyone would like to use those facilities please let me, or any other local fire fighter know and we will happily make it available for you.”
**Remember to keep your distance from the downed lines and treat them as if they are live.
