In Remembrance: Former Mayor Roland Walls
Former Blackville mayor Roland “Doad” Walls passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 84.
Born in Blackville, he was the son of the late Hayward and Ethel (Corney) Walls. He worked with the Department of National Defence as a firefighter and later went on to work as an insurance adjuster.
He proudly served as the Mayor of Blackville for 24 years and was also a Justice of the Peace. He was a former member of the Miramichi Hospital Board, as well as MRDC.
He will be sadly missed by his son Randy (Joy) of Blackville; brother Winsor (Joan) of Calgary, Alberta; four grandchildren Matthew, Noah, Jonathan, and Charity; great grandson Jake; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Ida (Grady) Walls; two daughters Sue Walls and Karla Brophy; his sister Joyce; and his brothers Leroy, Eric, Herbie, and Howard.
The family received relatives and friends from St Andrew’s United Church Hall, Blackville, on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 2 pm, from St Andrew’s United Church, with Rev. Kathryn McIntosh officiating.
