Perry Brophy Plaque Unveiling set for August 19 at Blackville Park

A plaque unveiling ceremony will be held in honour of Perry Brophy at Blackville Municipal Park, 158 Main Street on Saturday, August 19.

The unveiling will take place at 11:00am. This event, hosted by Blackville Legion Branch No. 49, is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend.

RCMP Const. Perry Brophy was killed in the line of duty at the age of 28 on January 6, 1978 in Hoyt, New Brunswick. He had previously served with the Newcastle Town Police and held the post of Chief of Police of the Village of Blackville.

    Truly sorry I cannot attend but I worked with Perry on the Newcastle Town Police and he was a true gentleman and someone I certainly looked up too. A true shame that his life was taken so early!
