Services
The home transportation service will be provided by pre-approved volunteer drivers by Transport Communautaire Northumberland Community Transportation. They will use their personal vehicles for travel. Each volunteer will transport the person home to the destination. Journeys must be of a one of nature and will be carried out strictly within Northumberland, except for medical appointments. The priority will remain the Northumberland region. The service will be offered during regular working hours and depending on the availability of volunteers.
How it works
Customers will contact the person in charge who will take note of the necessary information. She will then contact a volunteer to go to the client’s home to bring him/her to his/her appointment and then take him/her home. The service will only operate by reservation by phone. Appointments will be made between 8 a.m. and 4 a.m. Monday to Friday.
Territory
The territory served by TC-Northumberland-CT will extend from Neguac, Baie-Ste-Anne, Miramichi, Blackville, Rogersville and villages including surrounding rural areas.
Clients
Target clients will be the people of Northumberland County, and it should be noted that special attention will be paid to low-income people with no means of transportation.
Volunteers
The volunteer recruitment process is going well and so far, the group has recruited the first volunteer in March 2021.
Each volunteer must have $2 million in insurance coverage on their vehicle.
These people recruited into the community are a great asset in themselves, as they use their personal car in addition to donating their volunteer hours to the group. In addition, the amount reimbursed will barely cover the costs of purchasing gasoline and, to some extent, maintaining their vehicle.
Cost
Each regular customer must pay $0.35/km and each volunteer will receive $0.35/km
Members
Each member who wants to have access to this service will have to pay $10 annually. This amount will cover the costs associated with opening the file, the administration costs.
