Mayor Russell Receives first poppy of the 2024 Poppy Campaign

Blackville Branch 49 Royal Canadian Legion 1st Vice President Katherine Hennessy presented the first poppy of the 2024 Poppy Campaign to Miramichi River Valley Mayor Kevin E. Russell. The official launch of this year’s campaign begins on Friday, October 25.

Poppies will be available at several locations throughout the communities of the Miramichi River Valley.

The Poppy Campaign is an annual tradition that honors and supports veterans, reminding us of the sacrifices made for our freedom.

Every year, from the last Friday of October to November 11, tens of millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada’s Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today.
