Jaclyn Gilchrist’s School Project Takes Root at Veteran’s Fly
/Posted on: June 18, 2025/

Jaclyn Gilchrist, a Grade 12 student at Blackville School, recently completed her Capstone project as part of her Essential Skills class by planting flowers at the Veteran’s Fly—located at the corner of Main Street and South Bartholomew Road.
Before starting, Jaclyn approached the municipality for permission, sharing her idea to not only plant flowers but to begin a tradition. Her hope is that each year, a student from the same class will add to what she started, gradually improving the space over time.
The Municipality commended Jaclyn’s dedication and welcomes the idea of turning her Capstone project into an annual tradition, fostering civic pride and student involvement for years to come.

Way to go Jacky I hope more keep this tradition alive in the future. Flowers bring out lots of smiles and the bees as well.
