Highlights from Blackville's #Canada150 Celebrations

The village of Blackville held two jam-packed days of events last weekend in celebration of #Canada150.  Ground Zero Laser Tag kicked off Friday night at the park with two hours of ultimate fun from 7pm to 9pm. Paula Jardine and the Dusty Angels entertained the crowd from 8pm until 10pm and members of the Blackville Fire Department were on hand providing food and drinks. Their curly fries were definitely a hit!

The ever popular fireworks display amazed the crowd with over 20 minutes of non-stop action at 10pm.

On Saturday morning, Saint Raphael’s Parish held the annual Canada Day breakfast from 7am until 11am and the ladies of the CWL hosted their Strawberry Social from 12pm until 2pm.

The parade began at 2:30pm at Hooked ‘n Cooked and travelled the regular route up Main Street to the Irving and out Digby Lane back to the park where prized were awarded for best floats and bikes.  The Blackville Senior’s Taxi with Eugene and Gail Donovan, Pauline McEvoy, Trudy Underhill and former mayor Andy Hawkes was awarded third place, with Dwayne Frenette and family’s Back to Life float taking second. St. Raphael’s Youth Group was awarded first prize for their float.

Following the parade, celebrations continued at the park with GoGo Gymnastics jumping castles and face painting, Perley the Magician, music by Amy Jardine and friends and Jake Stewart.
