Blackville Rec Council Slow Pitch Tournament Raises Over $2,000 for outdoor basketball court project
Last weekend, the Blackville Recreation Council hosted a successful slow pitch tournament at Blackville Ball Field.
Despite the extreme heat, there was a great turnout and over $2,000 was raised in support of the construction of the new outdoor basketball court.
On behalf of the Rec Council, Deputy Mayor Denver Brennan shared the following statement in a message on Facebook, “Thank you to everyone that came out to support the tournament, and thank you to the summer students for spending their weekend at the baseball field working the canteen. Special thanks to everyone that donated to the tournament and to one of our other summer students, Daniel Richard for all the hard work he put into the tournament, even outside of work hours. He has definitely been one of the biggest supporters of the basketball court project.”
Over $63,000 has been raised to date. The project will cost an estimated $105,000.
Donations towards the Rec Council’s basketball court project can be made at the Blackville village office, 12 South Bartholomew Road. The office is open on Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m (please note the office closes at 12:30 pm on Fridays during the summer months).
