Blackville Outdoor Rink Hosts Appreciation Party
Not even the snow or cold temperatures could put a damper on an evening of family fun at the Blackville Outdoor Rink on Friday, February 15 as the Recreation Council hosted their annual Appreciation Skating Party.
The free event was held from 6:00pm until 8:30pm with an attendance of well over one hundred people.
More than $1,500 in prizes were given away – donations from businesses and individuals in the community.
Near the end of the evening, the crowd gathered on the ice for a group photo in support of the Tom Donovan Arena’s bid for Kraft Hockeyville. The arena in Renous is currently awaiting results to see if they are a finalist in this year’s competition – a bid made in memory of Thomas Dunn. Many of Thomas’ family and friends were in attendance Friday evening.
Special thanks to the Blackville Rec Council and its dedicated group of volunteers who keep the rink running all winter long – not an easy task for an outdoor rink.
