Former firefighter Lewis Donahue with his grandsons Justin Donahue, Austin Kelly, and Christopher and Matt Sturgeon, all of whom are current volunteer firefighters.

The Blackville Fireman’s Club hosted an open house on Saturday, August 20 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Spectators of all ages watched as firefighters performed an auto extrication demonstration and water rescue display.

All fire trucks, including the newest truck that was purchased in June, were on display.  Members of the Blackville RCMP handed out gifts to children and allowed kids to sit in their cruisers. Ambulance NB were also on site and provided free blood pressure readings.

There was a free bbq, cotton candy, balloon animals and jumping castle for the kids.  Amy Jardine and the Cains River Rats provided entertainment.
