The Municipality of Miramichi River Valley is requesting quotes from qualified contractors for the repair and replacement of a section of sewer service line on Station Street in Blackville.

IMPORTANT: Quotes will be accepted at the municipal office, 12 South Bartholomew Road until Wednesday, July 2 at 3:00pm.

Sewer Line Repair Station Street: Job Scope

Cut parallel across Station Street a 6 feet wide strip centered on pipe to be removed with concrete saw.   Remove and replace approximately 40 feet of 4-inch sewage service pipe from property line of Circle K across Station Street to within 4 feet of 8-inch sewer main line, being careful not to disturb 8-inch main line.

Invert elevation of 4-inch service pipe is approximately 6 feet on top of pavement.

Existing soil is to be moved to depth of 8-inch below existing line and if anomalies are discovered at this depth, such as a spring or insufficient support, material that caused this sag in pipe, work will cease, and village office will be notified.  Solution will be decided at that time.

New SDR 35 pipe and couplings will be used when joining new 4-inch SDR to existing service pipe.  M.J. coupling is allowed to be used at property line.

Pipe will be installed on grade of 1/8 inch per foot on fully compacted clean sand to the minimum compactor density of 95% line.

Sand will be added to level of top of pipe and compacted on both sides and then backfilled and tamped greater than 1-foot increments with clean sand until 8-inch below top of pavement.

Last 9-inches will be backfilled with driveway stone and compacted.  Line will be flushed, and sewage camera will be put through the line to prove no sag age in new line. 

The Contractor must:

• Possess either a sewage installation licence or be a licenced plumber to lay pipe as per code.
• Show proof of having Worker’s Compensation.
• Provide a sewage camera to inspect the line after completion of job.
• Be aware of trenching codes and obey all health and safety protocols during task.
• Show proof of having contractor’s insurance of at least one million dollars.
