Dare the Dark: The Dungarvon Whooper Experience Debuts This Summer in Blackville

Looking for a thrill that blends folklore, history, and the raw beauty of New Brunswick’s wilderness? This summer, The Dungarvon Whooper Experience invites the brave and curious to step into the heart of one of the province’s most bone-chilling legends.

Held every Saturday at 9pm, beginning June 28, this lantern-lit guided walk leads you into the wooded trails of Blackville Municipal Park. Starting at the Miramichi River Valley Tourist Information Centre (168 Main Street, Blackville), participants are drawn into a shadowy world where whispers in the woods may be more than just the wind.

Walk in the footsteps of Tom Hunter and the mysterious George Brown, as guides unravel the chilling events that gave birth to the Whooper’s ghostly cry—still said to echo through the trees on quiet nights. With each step along the trail, your guide will share stories steeped in mystery and local history, blurring the line between fact and folklore.

The atmosphere? Pure suspense. The sounds? Unsettling. The question? Will you hear the Whoop?

Whether you’re a local revisiting a familiar tale or a newcomer in search of a spooky summer adventure, The Dungarvon Whooper Experience is more than just a walk in the woods. It’s a journey into the past, where the forest holds secrets—and some of them don’t want to stay buried.

Come for the story. Stay for the mystery. But remember—when the Whooper calls, you might not be alone.

Cost of admission is $15.
