Miramichi River Valley’s Canada Day Parade drew large crowds on Tuesday, July 1, in Blackville with people lining the streets to take in the many floats and show their support for local groups and organizations.

This year’s parade featured a strong number of entries, making it one of the biggest in recent memory.

Winners of the Best Float Competition were:

First Place – United Church Women
Marking 100 years. Prize: $400

Second Place – Gray Rapids United Pentecostal Church
Prize: $300

Third Place – Miramichi Folklore Park
Featuring a float celebrating local music. Prize: $200
