Blackville Marks 50th Anniversary With Celebration

incorporation
On Saturday, September 3, the Blackville Municipal Park played host to the 50th anniversary celebration of the incorporation of the village. The weather was perfect and the crowd enjoyed hours of entertainment from local performers and Perley the Magician from Fredericton.

The car show was a huge hit with more than thirty cars participating. Perley Palmer entertained kids and adults alike with a mesmerizing hour of magic!

Local singers Amber Walls, Amelia Underhill, Erik Hendricks and Debbie Muck rocked the park pavilion all afternoon.

A free barbecue was sponsored by Blackville Foodland/Jerry Stafford and prepared by the BHS Class of 2017 and volunteers. Cotton candy and cake was also served. Dozens of kids enjoyed the jumping castle and balloon animals.

At the start of the event, MLA Jake Stewart presented mayor Christopher Hennessy and councilor Cindy Underhill with a New Brunswick flag and a certificate of recognition.

It’s nice to see Blackville hosting different community events, but it should be made accessible for those with disabilities. It would be nice to see a parking area available for those who cannot walk long distances or that cannot walk at all. The park is big enough to reserve an area for those who need it. Hopefully it will be different for the next event.
