Greater Blackville Resource Centre Hosts AGM

The Greater Blackville Resource Centre hosted their Annual General Meeting on September 20 at the Voice of Hope Ministries in Upper Blackville following a meal provided for volunteers, partners and guests.

In a letter circulated at the meeting, Founder and President of the Greater Blackville Resource Centre, Rev. Albertine Le Blanc stated the following:

Dear friends,

It has been an amazing year for GBRC with our greatest resource found in the passionate volunteers that we have working diligently for the cause. I’m always impressed and inspired by your dedication and commitment to serving our community and outlying areas.

We have secured some amazing partnerships since our meager beginnings six years ago.

Our partnership with NBAFB is providing frozen and dry goods to stock our freezers and shelves full of a variety of quality food items on an average of every 6 to 8 weeks.

NBAFB also provided help to design and build our Garden Center. Sobeys has provided bread and pastries for all our clients and the abundance is being shared with our neighbouring food bank in Doaktown, as well as our local non-profit groups.

Foodland partnership provides us with banana boxes of food regularly and they are promoting our $2 coupons.

The Blackville Fire Department provides the 50/50 draw that grants us a purchasing budget at Foodland.

We were recipients of Food Banks Canada grants which permitted us to increase our capacity as well as offer crock pot classes with 15 registered.

Looking ahead, God has given me a vision for increase. Isaiah 54:2 says: enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For this shall expand to the right and to the left. I am convinced that there is much more we can do for our community. I believe that God will send the partners and investors we need to “put Blackville on the map”.

“Thank you” to our committed Board of Directors; our faithful volunteers; our local churches, business community and all our sponsors who continue to support God’s mandate to promote “Unity for our Community”. For it is there that God commands his blessing. (Psalm 133)
